Google Analytics: Some tips every webmaster should know
Google analytics is not a new topic to you if by any means you are related to SEO or say web analytics. So this article is mainly
dedicated to beginners in SEO and web analytics. I have met many SEOs in conferences worldwide who want tips as they want to shift themselves to web analytics. The answer is very obvious: If you are a SEO, you are already doing web analytics. The only problem is that you do not know this! So hopefully, by the end of this article you will get so insight of what is Google Analytics? I choose Google Analytics because it is the most widely used web analytics tool available. One major reason you all know is that it’s free. Another reason which I want to explain in this article is that, unless and until you have a very big business spread worldwide which gets millions of visits every day, you can easily make up your work by this tool. This is every expert’s recommendation as Google analytics is very easy to implement, easy to use and easy to understand. So a beginner can read the help files and start working on it.
Google Analytics history: Well you may think that why I am including this topic as you can easily go and Google this topic. The reason why I included this topic is because I want to tell how it evolved. Actually this is not very old software and was started in April 2005. Google bought Urchin Software Corp. in April and launched the free software Google analytics in November 2005. There was a huge rush among webmasters to create an account and as a result, Google had to stop creating new accounts. There was a help page where you can submit your email id and depending upon the rush, Google will send you a mail when there is a scope for creating an account. So this was the start of probably one of the most popular web analytics software.
How to setup a Google Analytics account: Creating a Google analytics account is as simple as creating a Gmail account. The only requirement is that you should have a website or at least access to the HTML (or PHP) code section of the website for which you are creating an account. The only precaution which I think should be considered while creating the account is the proper selection of time zone. If your analytics account is linked to your AdWords account, you can never change your time zone. Hence take precaution as I made this blunder and am paying till now. Other option here is to cancel the existing account completely and then make a fresh account with the time zone you want. But in this case you will miss all the data prior to the date of creating the new account. Now when you create the account, Google generates a small snippet of Java script (known as Google analytics tracking code) which you have to place on your website. Please make sure to place it on all the pages of your website you want Google to track. The code will remain similar for all the pages of the same website.

Google Glass gets Play Music access, new stereo earphones
Google Glass is subject to constant updates, making it better and more useful every time. With the latest update, Google Glass gets a new Google Play Music app. It’s simple to use. Just say “Ok Glass, listen to” a song or artist and it starts playing. It’s an MP3 player that is already on your face, so why not use it for music?
To go along with this new app, Google has released a set of stereo earphones for Google Glass. They retail for $85, so they should be pretty decent quality, though we can’t be sure until we give them a listen. Either way, they should satisfy the general population’s need for music. Of course, you can also use a mono earphone, but we can’t imagine why you’d do so.
This is a pretty useful feature, considering you have an audio and internet capable device on your face. There is no need for a cord running to your pocket to be caught on things, because we’ve all experienced that pain. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many Google Glass users to tell us how they like this new feature. Do you have Google Glass? Are you going to pick up a set of these earphones? Leave a comment!

How to use Siri to search Google instead of Bing
Siri helps you to use your voice to write messages, schedule meetings, search the web, and so much more. Ask Siri to do things just by talking, and she will totally understand what you mean. Siri is so easy to use and does so much; you’ll keep finding more and more ways to use this great service from Apple. All you have to do is to say what you want to do and instead of typing, tap the microphone icon on the keyboard, then say what you want to say and when you finish just tap Done, and your words are converted automatically to text.
Inpite of the fact that Apple still uses Google as the default search engine for web browser, Safari, still things have changed a little with iOS7 for Siri. Siri now uses Bing as its default search engine instead of Google, which might be annoying to lots of people, but there is always a way to edit that and get back to Google. Maybe you won’t get to change that in your settings on iPhone, however you can ask Siri to search Google, tricky right!
Like you normally hold down the Home button in order to start talking to Siri, instead this time you will just ask her to search Google for whatever you want to search, so if you want to search “Top 10 Horror Movies” you should say “Google the top 10 horror movies” simple as that! This way Siri will get you the results from Google and not Bing, all you have to do is to say “Google”.

Older browser behavior changes in Google search
Older browser behavior changes in Google searchSep 04, '14 07:00:00AM • Contributed by: Anonymous As of August 29, 2014, Google has decided to intentionally break old browsers. They say it's not a bug, it's by design here, even though Google's support page says it accepts Safari 4 as a fully supported browser.
If you want Google searches to go back to the modern style, you need to change your User-Agent string. For Safari, enable the Develop Window and use an option in there that works. Internet Explorer 9 (Windows) works, for example.
[crarko adds: I don't have an older system active at the moment to try this. It's inevitable that older software becomes obsolete, the same way older hardware does. I think the actual hint here is a reminder that if a site misbehaves, changing the user agent can be an effective troubleshooting tool.]
